The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has clarified the recent ticketing problems during the Nedbank Cup final, where an oversale of tickets caused frustration among fans and confusion at stadium entry points.

In a statement released today, the PSL confirmed that a technical glitch in the ticketing system led to more tickets being sold than the stadium’s capacity. Officials explained that an automated error caused a mismatch between ticket allocations and available seating, resulting in some sections being double-booked.

Once the issue was detected, the league took immediate action. Affected ticket holders were notified, and extra staff were deployed to assist at the venue. Fans were given the option of a full refund or the chance to move to another available seating section. The PSL also pledged to work with its ticketing partners to strengthen system checks and prevent similar incidents in the future.

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to our supporters. We accept responsibility for the error and are taking steps to ensure it does not happen again,” said PSL CEO Lydia Monyepao.

Despite the ticketing disruption, the final delivered an exciting match. The league’s quick response helped stabilize the situation before kickoff. Moving forward, the PSL says it will focus on improving its ticketing processes to provide a better experience for fans in upcoming events.
