South African media personality Penny Lebyane has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding Mac G’s podcast and its recent criticism of Minnie Dlamini. Following the episode where Minnie was disparaged, Lebyane took to social media to condemn the podcast host’s behavior, calling him “misogynistic” and “repulsive.”

On X (formerly Twitter), Lebyane—a well-known broadcaster and moderator at the Joburg Film Festival—did not hold back in her critique. She accused Mac G of repeatedly targeting successful Black women who take charge of their own lives and careers.

“That podcaster isn’t just problematic—he’s repulsive and deeply misogynistic,” Lebyane wrote. “His content often centers on tearing down Black women who are independent and self-made. He represents the worst kind of industry men who resent women’s success.”

She further suggested that the attacks stem from insecurity, stating:

“This is classic behavior from men who secretly desire these women but know they can never measure up. Instead of uplifting them, they try to drag them down to their level. It’s not criticism—it’s an obsession.”

Lebyane also challenged the notion that Mac G’s large following equates to quality content, arguing that true excellence isn’t determined by subscriber numbers.

“Let’s be clear: He is not the standard for excellence in this industry. Quantity doesn’t equal quality,” she said. “Just like the old-guard bullies who hide behind political connections, this is small-minded behavior from someone with no class.”

Her comments come amid widespread backlash from Mzansi social media users, many of whom have rallied behind Minnie Dlamini. The debate has sparked broader conversations about misogyny in entertainment and the ethics of celebrity commentary in digital media.

As of now, Mac G has not publicly responded to Lebyane’s remarks. However, the discussion continues to dominate online discourse, with many calling for more accountability in podcasting and media spaces.
