Dr Brian Monaisa has officially confirmed the end of his relationship with media personality Minnie Dlamini, putting weeks of speculation to rest. In a statement released on social media, the medical doctor addressed false claims circulating about their breakup.
“I note with deep dismay that a tabloid published a malicious article about the reasons for our separation,” Monaisa wrote. “The claims made are completely untrue and could damage Ms Dlamini’s reputation.”
The doctor specifically denied rumours that infidelity caused the split, attributing the breakup to external pressures instead. “Our relationship ended due to personal reasons, largely the intense scrutiny from social media,” he explained. “We shared a wonderful connection and part ways amicably, with no animosity between us.”
Monaisa, who had previously avoided commenting on their private life, said he felt compelled to speak out to protect Dlamini’s image from false narratives. His statement emphasised their mutual respect, confirming they intend to remain friends despite the romantic relationship ending.
The couple’s relationship had been subject to public fascination since they went public in 2022. Dlamini, who divorced from ex-husband Quinton Jones in 2021, has yet to comment personally on the breakup.
Industry insiders suggest the constant public attention created unsustainable pressure on the pair. “When every dinner date becomes trending news, it changes how you experience a relationship,” commented a source close to the former couple.
Monaisa’s rare public statement highlights the challenges high-profile South African couples face navigating personal lives under relentless social media scrutiny. Neither party has indicated whether they will take legal action against the tabloid in question.
