Serial entrepreneur Lekau Sehoana has added another chapter to his inspiring business journey with the launch of EasyPrice Holdings’ newest store in Moroka, Soweto. The move signals his strategic shift into retail while staying true to his mission of empowering underserved communities.
The newly opened supermarket, which stocks affordable groceries, liquor, and offers delivery services, is part of Sehoana’s vision to bring quality retail experiences to township and rural markets. Its “Your Real Friend” brand promise emphasizes affordability and reliability—values deeply rooted in Sehoana’s own rise from Ivory Park streets to business success.
“EasyPrice isn’t just a store; it’s a partner to the community,” Sehoana said at the launch. “We’re here to make daily essentials accessible without compromising on quality.”
This venture marks a resilient pivot for the entrepreneur, who first gained fame as founder of the cult-favorite Drip Footwear brand. After building it into a multimillion-rand empire by 2019, he faced a setback when the company was liquidated in 2024. But Sehoana rebounded swiftly, launching sneaker brand Drip Sportif in February 2025 through a partnership with TAPE stores.
Now, as CEO of EasyPrice Holdings, he’s channeling his trademark hustle into retail expansion. The Moroka store is the first in an ambitious rollout plan targeting high-demand, low-access areas. Industry analysts note the strategic timing, as township retail grows increasingly competitive.
“Lekau understands these markets because he comes from them,” said retail analyst Thando Mkhize. “His authenticity could disrupt how chains engage township consumers.”
For Sehoana, the Soweto opening is both a homecoming and a statement—proof that setbacks fuel comebacks. As shoppers lined up for the store’s debut, one thing was clear: South Africa’s entrepreneurial king of reinvention is just getting started.
