MK Party’s Floyd Shivambu Warns Members Against Bypassing Provincial Leadership

Floyd Shivambu, Secretary-General of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, has issued a firm directive to party members, cautioning them against directly approaching party leader Jacob Zuma with issues that fall within the jurisdiction of provincial leadership. He emphasized that internal concerns should be handled by the relevant provincial structures rather than being escalated unnecessarily to the national leadership.

Shivambu’s warning comes amid growing concerns within the party over the proper channels for resolving internal disputes. He reiterated that the party’s leadership structure is designed to ensure efficient problem-solving at the provincial level, preventing unnecessary interference in matters best addressed at their source.

While Zuma remains a highly respected figure within the party, Shivambu stressed that centralizing every issue at the top could undermine the MK Party’s decentralized structure. He reminded members that provincial leaders are fully equipped to handle grassroots challenges and that respecting these structures would enhance the party’s operational efficiency.

His remarks reflect a broader effort to strengthen internal discipline and communication within the party, ensuring smoother governance as the MK Party navigates South Africa’s complex political landscape. By reinforcing the role of provincial leadership, the party aims to maintain order, improve coordination, and reaffirm confidence in its regional structures.
