MK Party Secretary General Floyd Shivambu has brushed off verbal attacks and accusations from Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, asserting that he remains unwavering in his commitment to the party.
Shivambu, who recently took on the role of Secretary General, acknowledged the challenges of his position but made it clear that personal criticisms would not distract him.
“I took on this role knowing its implications, and I remain committed to the work of the MK Party. Insults and accusations are part of political life, especially in a highly contested environment like ours. I will not be shaken,” he stated.

Zuma-Sambudla, daughter of former President Jacob Zuma, has been outspoken about her dissatisfaction with certain elements within the party’s leadership. Though she has not explicitly opposed Shivambu’s role, her pointed social media posts and public remarks have fueled speculation about internal power struggles.
Shivambu’s history with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) before his recent shift to the MK Party has also sparked debate among party loyalists, with some questioning his allegiance. His swift rise to Secretary General has been met with skepticism, as some within the party believe he has yet to prove himself.
Zuma-Sambudla has positioned herself as a fierce defender of her father’s political legacy, and her critiques of Shivambu are seen as part of a larger contest for influence within the MK Party.
Despite the controversy, Shivambu remains focused on strengthening the party’s structures and consolidating support at all levels.
“My priority is to ensure that the MK Party remains a strong, disciplined, and effective political force. Leadership positions are not about personalities but about service to the people,” he affirmed.
While tensions persist, political analysts suggest that Shivambu’s organizational skills and experience could help him navigate the party through internal divisions. Whether he can secure the trust of skeptical members remains to be seen, but for now, he appears determined to stay the course.
