In a shocking turn of events, the wife of late Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) officer Banele Sikhosana has been arrested for allegedly orchestrating his murder. Sikhosana was fatally shot last week while opening his tuck-shop in Kwa-Thema. His wife was taken into custody this afternoon while preparing for his funeral, following revelations that she allegedly hired a hitman to kill her husband.

According to authorities, the hitman has confessed to the crime, revealing that Sikhosana’s wife paid him to carry out the murder. Acting EMPD Chief of Police Julius Mkhwanazi confirmed that the final payment was made after Sikhosana’s death. This was reportedly not the first attempt on Sikhosana’s life; he had previously survived a poisoning attempt allegedly orchestrated by his wife.

Police are still searching for another suspect connected to the case. The arrested parties, including the wife and the hitman, are scheduled to appear in the Springs Magistrate Court on Monday.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about betrayal and violence within families. Sikhosana’s tragic death and the alleged involvement of his wife have left many grappling with the unsettling details of the case.

As the investigation continues, the community awaits justice for Banele Sikhosana, whose life was cut short in a chilling act of betrayal. The case serves as a grim reminder of the complexities and dangers that can lurk behind closed doors.
