Steenhuisen Dismisses Leadership Plot Rumours, Affirms Commitment to DA

Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen has strongly rejected rumours of an internal plot to remove him, dismissing the speculation as “nocturnal fantasies” pushed by the media.

Recent reports suggested dissatisfaction within the DA and alleged that some members were considering a leadership change. However, Steenhuisen wasted no time shutting down the claims, calling them baseless and without merit.

“I’m going nowhere,” he declared in a statement, reaffirming his confidence in his leadership and commitment to the party. He described the rumours as distractions and emphasized his focus on leading the DA forward.

Speculation also hinted that Steenhuisen might be sent abroad to Harvard as part of a transition plan, but he firmly denied this, stating there was no truth to the claim and that he had no plans to step away from his position.

His remarks come as the DA gears up for future elections, with the party aiming to strengthen its governance and influence. Steenhuisen’s strong response seeks to maintain stability within the party and keep attention on its political agenda.

By addressing the speculation directly, Steenhuisen has reassured DA supporters that his leadership remains intact and that there is no immediate threat to his position. As South Africa’s political landscape shifts, Steenhuisen’s leadership will be a key factor in the DA’s future success.

For now, his message is clear: he is staying put, regardless of the rumours.
