KwaZulu-Natal police have confirmed that one suspect linked to Tuesday morning’s cash-in-transit robbery on the N2 near the NPC cement factory in Durban has been shot and killed in a shootout with officers on Moore Road.
A second suspect was wounded and taken into custody following the exchange of gunfire.
According to authorities, the suspects attacked a cash-in-transit vehicle, assaulted two security guards, and stole their firearms before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.
A woman was tragically killed during the heist after being caught in the crossfire.
Police have identified at least 17 suspects believed to be involved in the crime, and investigations are ongoing as they hunt down the remaining members of the gang.
