King Misuzulu KaZwelithini has unexpectedly canceled his traditional wedding to Nomzamo Myeni, which was scheduled for January 24 and 26, 2025, in Jozini. The announcement comes as one of the King’s wives has challenged the marriage in court, arguing it would constitute bigamy.
The urgent application to halt the marriage is set to be heard by the Pietermaritzburg High Court tomorrow morning. In light of the controversy, King Misuzulu has reportedly informed KwaZulu-Natal’s Director-General, Dr. Nonhlanhla Mkhize, of his decision and requested the withdrawal of Myeni’s security detail.
This development follows a turbulent period for the royal court. Just yesterday, the King dismissed his longtime confidant, Prince Simphiwe Zulu of KwaMinyamanzi, from all royal duties. The move has added to the growing tensions within the Zulu royal household.
