The African National Congress (ANC) commemorated its 113th anniversary with a spirited event in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, reaffirming its role as a cornerstone of South Africa’s political landscape. Drawing a large and enthusiastic crowd, the celebration highlighted the party’s resilience and ongoing relevance, even amidst internal and external challenges.

Held on the anniversary of the ANC’s founding in 1912, the event paid homage to its storied legacy, from its leadership in the anti-apartheid struggle to its current mission of building a democratic and equitable South Africa. Addressing the crowd, a senior ANC leader expressed pride in the party’s historical achievements and reiterated its commitment to serving the nation.

Khayelitsha was a symbolic choice for the event, representing both the challenges and progress of post-apartheid South Africa. With strong grassroots support for the ANC in communities like this, the celebration provided a platform to reconnect with members and reaffirm the party’s focus on addressing pressing social and economic issues.

Despite the celebratory atmosphere, some internal detractors, including Tony Yengeni, attempted to downplay the event’s significance. However, ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula stood firm, dismissing such efforts and emphasizing the importance of unity and solidarity within the party. Mbalula praised the event as a testament to the ANC’s enduring strength and ability to rally its supporters.

The successful organization of the anniversary gathering underscored the ANC’s capacity to mobilize and inspire, even in the face of adversity. Attendees left with a renewed sense of trust and optimism in the party’s ability to navigate the complexities of modern governance while staying true to its founding principles of freedom, equality, and justice.

Well done!!! @MYANC for pulling a Successful event today in the heart of Khayelitsha, and to one of the sound and Solid Secretary Generals of the ANC @MbalulaFikile Charlatans and Casanovas like Tony Yengeni attempted to belittle and undermine this event, but you stood firm and… pic.twitter.com/7V3WKaQWrs

As the ANC marked 113 years of existence, the celebration in Khayelitsha served as a powerful reminder of its pivotal role in South Africa’s democratic evolution. The event was not only a tribute to the party’s historic achievements but also a vision of its aspirations for the future.

Mbalula closed the event with a resounding message of hope, unity, and determination, emphasizing the ANC’s commitment to leading South Africa toward a brighter tomorrow. The anniversary celebration was a moment to honor the past while embracing the challenges and opportunities of the future—here’s to the next chapter in the ANC’s enduring journey.
