MKP Leadership Reaffirms Support for Floyd Shivambu and Duduzile Zuma, Calls for Unity

In a firm statement released on Wednesday, the leadership of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) dismissed rumors about potential leadership changes involving Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu and senior leader Duduzile Zuma. Endorsed by MKP President Jacob Zuma, the statement reaffirmed the party’s confidence in both leaders and their roles in advancing its political agenda.

“Comrade Floyd, our trusted Secretary-General, is not going anywhere. He remains an essential part of the MKP’s leadership. The same applies to Comrade Duduzile, who is a key pillar of our leadership collective,” Zuma declared, emphasizing the need for discipline and focus among party members.

The statement comes in response to widespread social media speculation alleging internal discord and suggesting that Shivambu and Duduzile Zuma might be sidelined due to strategic disagreements ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections. Zuma strongly refuted these claims, describing them as baseless attempts to create division within the party.

“The social media hype is designed to confuse our members and derail our mission. We must ignore it and stay focused on the task at hand—building a strong MKP that delivers for the people,” he stated.

The MKP leadership urged members, particularly grassroots supporters and local commanders, to prioritize strengthening the party’s structures and intensifying their campaign efforts for the upcoming elections. The 2026 Local Government Elections are seen as a pivotal opportunity for the MKP to expand its influence and challenge the dominance of established political parties, including the ANC.

Insiders within the MKP highlighted the significant contributions of Shivambu and Duduzile Zuma to the party’s progress. Shivambu’s organizational expertise and Duduzile’s charismatic leadership have been credited with enhancing grassroots mobilization and policy development efforts.

Political analyst Professor Sipho Ngubane emphasized the importance of the MKP’s show of unity. “By publicly supporting Shivambu and Duduzile, Zuma is sending a message of stability and continuity. This is essential for a relatively new party seeking to establish itself in South Africa’s political landscape,” Ngubane explained.

As the MKP prepares for the 2026 elections, its leadership remains steadfast in its commitment to serving the people and solidifying its position as a formidable force in South African politics. Jacob Zuma’s call for unity underscores the party’s dedication to its mission and highlights its strategy to maintain focus amid external distractions.
