Mzwanele Manyi, a senior leader in the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has publicly backed Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu, dismissing persistent speculation about Shivambu’s potential removal from his position. This strong show of support comes amid growing rumors of internal discord and alleged dissatisfaction with Shivambu’s leadership.
Speaking at a media briefing, Manyi categorically denied the claims, affirming Shivambu’s critical role within the party. “There is absolutely no foundation for these rumors. Floyd Shivambu is a cornerstone of this movement and enjoys the full confidence of the leadership,” Manyi declared. He went on to commend Shivambu’s dedication to the EFF’s mission and his significant contributions to the party’s successes.
Rumors circulating across various platforms have suggested Shivambu’s position was in jeopardy due to alleged internal disagreements. However, Manyi dismissed these as unfounded gossip aimed at creating divisions. “The EFF is a united front. We are not distracted by baseless chatter meant to derail us from our objectives,” he asserted.
Shivambu, renowned for his sharp rhetoric and strategic leadership, has been a key figure in the EFF since its founding. As secretary-general, his efforts have been pivotal in managing the party’s administrative and operational functions. Manyi emphasized Shivambu’s indispensability, urging unity within the party to withstand external pressures.
“Let it be clear: the EFF does not tolerate any attempts to sow discord among its leadership. Shivambu’s leadership and unwavering commitment to the revolution are beyond question,” Manyi reiterated. He also called on party members and supporters to stay focused on the EFF’s core mission of economic emancipation, warning against distractions meant to undermine the party’s progress.
Although Shivambu has not directly addressed the rumors, Manyi’s firm endorsement signals a strong message of solidarity and confidence in the party’s leadership. Known for its disciplined structure and strategic focus, the EFF appears intent on quashing any perceptions of internal conflict.
With Manyi’s emphatic statements, the party is rallying behind its secretary-general, presenting a unified front against any external attempts to challenge its leadership.
