Shivambu Denies Claims of Removal as MKP General Secretary, Refutes Duduzane Zuma Appointment Rumors

Floyd Shivambu has categorically dismissed reports suggesting his removal as General Secretary of the MK Party (MKP) and the alleged appointment of Duduzane Zuma as his successor.

In a statement shared on his official X account (formerly Twitter), Shivambu clarified that these claims are entirely unfounded and should be disregarded. He also addressed contentious tweets from Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, asserting that her account is not an official communication platform for the MKP.

“These rumors are baseless and part of a smear campaign intended to destabilize the MK Party,” Shivambu stated. “There is no truth to my alleged removal or to Duduzane Zuma’s supposed appointment. These are pure fabrications aimed at creating confusion.”

Shivambu urged social media users to be cautious about information from unverified sources, particularly posts from Zuma-Sambudla’s account. “Her account does not represent the MK Party. Any claims made there or on similar platforms should be dismissed as gossip,” he added.

The MKP leader emphasized the importance of relying on the party’s verified channels for accurate information. “We have official communication platforms, and we encourage our supporters to avoid spreading or believing misinformation,” Shivambu said.

As a relatively new political entity in South Africa, the MKP has faced challenges in establishing internal unity and combating external narratives. Shivambu’s statement highlights the party’s determination to maintain credibility and cohesion in the face of such rumors.

Public reactions to Shivambu’s remarks have been mixed. Some praised him for addressing the rumors directly, while others questioned the party’s communication approach.

“This is the kind of transparency we need from political leaders. Social media is full of misleading information,” one user commented.

Another, however, pointed to possible internal discord: “This exposes leadership cracks within the MKP. They need to resolve their internal struggles.”

By addressing the speculation, Shivambu seeks to reaffirm his leadership and refocus the MKP’s efforts on its political agenda. With the rumors dispelled, the party hopes to turn attention back to its vision and policies for South Africa.
