Nokuthula Mkhize, the woman at the center of the viral FlySafair flight drama, has denied being intoxicated, claiming she was “sober as a judge” during the altercation.
The 43-year-old passenger was caught on video shoving a flight attendant, hurling verbal abuse, and allegedly throwing food and drinks. During the chaos, she was heard boasting about being an ANC member and working for the SABC.
Mkhize has now announced plans to sue FlySafair, maintaining that she was sober and wrongly accused. However, police investigations tell a different story. According to authorities, Mkhize became aggressive after demanding to be served alcohol.
The incident, which has sparked widespread backlash on social media, has led to charges of assault and crimen injuria being reinstated.
The SABC has since issued a statement distancing itself from Mkhize’s behavior, emphasizing its commitment to values of respect and integrity. Similarly, the ANC has publicly disassociated itself from the controversy.
The case remains under investigation as public outrage continues to grow.
