Panyaza Lesufi, Gauteng Premier and prominent ANC leader, has once again left South Africans stunned with revelations that have sent shockwaves through the African National Congress (ANC). Known for his bold approach and unfiltered commentary, Lesufi’s recent statements have sparked heated debates within the ANC and across South Africa’s political landscape.

Speaking at a recent event, Lesufi openly addressed internal party tensions surrounding corruption and leadership accountability. He highlighted what he described as “a growing crisis of trust” within the ANC, warning that failure to tackle these challenges could lead to the party’s downfall in the upcoming elections. Lesufi criticized internal factions, pointing out how personal ambitions and infighting are undermining the party’s ability to govern effectively.

In a particularly shocking disclosure, Lesufi accused key ANC members of disregarding strategic plans aimed at addressing Gauteng’s financial difficulties. He claimed that some leaders prioritized their own ambitions over the needs of citizens, leaving the province’s development goals in jeopardy. These accusations have reportedly angered senior ANC figures, forcing the party’s leadership to confront its deepening internal divisions.

Lesufi also expressed frustration with the ANC’s handling of youth empowerment initiatives, accusing the leadership of neglecting policies that could create jobs and improve education. His criticism reflects widespread dissatisfaction among South Africans with the ANC’s perceived failure to deliver on its promises.

As the fallout from Lesufi’s remarks continues, political analysts believe his boldness could either cement his position as a reformist within the ANC or alienate him from members resistant to change. For the ANC, this moment may serve as a critical wake-up call to address its internal issues or risk losing further public support ahead of the 2024 national elections.

Lesufi’s candid critique has left the ANC with little choice but to confront these pressing concerns. Whether his revelations will spark meaningful reform or deepen the party’s divisions remains to be seen.
