Ex-ANC Chaplain’s Lavish R23 Million Johannesburg Estate Up for Sale Amid Hawks Probe

A luxury Johannesburg estate owned by a former ANC chaplain, now under investigation by the Hawks, has been listed for sale at R23 million. The cleric, whose identity remains undisclosed, is reportedly preparing to relocate to Zwelitsha in the Eastern Cape as scrutiny over allegations of financial misconduct intensifies.

Nestled within an exclusive equestrian estate, the property showcases exceptional opulence and modern sophistication. Its features include expansive living spaces, a gourmet kitchen, a private swimming pool, and stables, appealing to equestrian enthusiasts. The home’s blend of tranquility and proximity to Johannesburg’s business districts makes it a prime choice for high-net-worth individuals seeking privacy and exclusivity.

The decision to sell comes as the Hawks probe allegations linked to the former chaplain’s financial dealings during his time with the ANC. Though formal charges have not been filed, the investigation has fueled speculation about the timing of the sale and the chaplain’s motives.

Insiders suggest the move to Zwelitsha is a bid to retreat from the limelight and begin anew in a more subdued environment. The chaplain reportedly intends to focus on community development initiatives in the Eastern Cape, distancing himself from the ongoing controversy.

Property experts describe the estate’s R23 million price tag as competitive given its luxurious amenities and prestigious location. “This is a rare gem in Johannesburg’s high-end real estate market and is sure to attract affluent buyers,” commented a leading estate agent.

Neither the Hawks nor the ANC has issued statements on the sale’s implications. The ANC has adhered to its policy of non-interference in legal matters involving its members, while the Hawks continue to investigate the cleric’s financial activities.

The property’s sale is expected to draw considerable attention, not only for its luxury appeal but also due to the high-profile status of its owner and the ongoing investigation. For the former chaplain, the sale marks the end of a chapter in Johannesburg and the beginning of a quieter life in Zwelitsha.
