EFF Gauteng Chair Nkululeko Dunga Warns Against Disloyalty as 2024 Elections Approach

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Gauteng chairperson Nkululeko Dunga has issued a strong warning against disloyalty within the party, describing it as a serious threat to its unity and goals. Speaking at a provincial gathering on Wednesday, Dunga emphasized the need for discipline, loyalty, and commitment, particularly as the 2024 general elections draw closer.

Dunga’s comments come in the wake of increasing reports of factionalism and internal disputes in some Gauteng branches. While not naming individuals, Dunga condemned what he termed “opportunistic tendencies” among certain leaders who appear to prioritize personal ambitions over the collective vision of the EFF.

“These disloyal leaders are undermining the vision of the EFF. They do not represent the revolutionary spirit we stand for but seek to sow division and derail our progress. This behavior will not be tolerated,” Dunga stated.

He reminded members of the EFF’s founding principles, stressing the importance of unity, accountability, and unwavering dedication to the party’s mission of achieving economic emancipation. He also warned that disciplinary action would be taken against those who jeopardize the party’s integrity.

Addressing Internal Challenges

Insiders believe Dunga’s remarks are aimed at addressing tensions in certain branches where accusations of favoritism and a lack of transparency have emerged. These issues, if unresolved, could undermine the EFF’s preparations for the 2024 elections, where the party hopes to significantly increase its electoral support.

National Leadership Calls for Focus

EFF Secretary-General Marshall Dlamini echoed Dunga’s sentiments, urging members to avoid distractions and stay focused on mobilizing communities. “We cannot afford distractions. The people of South Africa are looking to us for solutions to the challenges of unemployment, inequality, and corruption,” Dlamini said.

Preparing for a Critical Election Year

With the 2024 elections expected to be highly competitive, Dunga’s firm stance highlights the importance of internal cohesion to the EFF’s broader goals. Members have been called upon to recommit to the party’s revolutionary agenda and reject any actions that could derail its progress.

As the party aims to expand its influence and voter base, unity and discipline remain central to its aspirations of becoming a dominant political force in South Africa.
