EFF leader Julius Malema has refuted claims that senior party member Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has been excluded from attending the Economic Freedom Fighters’ (EFF) National People’s Assembly (NPA) in December. The rumors, which sparked widespread speculation about internal tensions, were dismissed by Malema as baseless attempts to sow division within the party.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Malema reaffirmed Ndlozi’s pivotal role in the EFF and its upcoming assembly. “Dr. Ndlozi is a founding member of this movement, and his contributions are invaluable. Any suggestion that he would be excluded is a lie spread by those who wish to destabilize us,” Malema asserted.
The NPA, slated for early December, is a crucial event in the EFF’s calendar, particularly as South Africa approaches the 2024 general elections. The assembly is expected to address internal dynamics, shape the party’s strategic direction, and reaffirm leadership decisions. Rumors of Ndlozi’s exclusion appear to have arisen from perceived disagreements among senior leaders. However, Malema was unequivocal in dismissing such claims, stressing the party’s unity.
“We have always had robust discussions, but we remain united in our goal to bring about economic freedom in our lifetime. Dr. Ndlozi’s voice is critical in that conversation, and it will be heard at the NPA,” Malema said.
Political analysts have noted that internal differences are not uncommon in a rapidly growing party like the EFF, but they caution that visible discord could undermine the party’s image as it gears up for a pivotal election year.
Malema concluded his remarks with a rallying call for unity, urging members to focus on the party’s broader mission. “We must remain focused on the bigger picture. The EFF is stronger than ever, and our leadership is united in bringing change to this country,” he said.
The National People’s Assembly is expected to draw significant attention as the EFF solidifies its strategy for 2024, with Dr. Ndlozi’s role reaffirmed as central to the party’s vision.
