DJ Maphorisa’s Star-Studded 37th Birthday Party Sparks Rumors About Thuli Phongolo Relationship

DJ Maphorisa celebrated his 37th birthday in style, hosting a lavish star-studded party that became the talk of the town. Held at Pharoah Motors, the event was graced by some of South Africa’s biggest names in entertainment, including DJ Zinhle, Black Coffee, Oskido, Kabza De Small, Nadia Nakai, and Cassper Nyovest. The black-tie affair featured electrifying performances, including a special set by DJ Black Coffee.

However, the absence of Thuli Phongolo, DJ Maphorisa’s rumored girlfriend, raised eyebrows and fueled speculation about the state of their relationship.

Thuli Phongolo’s Absence Raises Questions

Thuli Phongolo’s no-show at the party reignited rumors of a split, especially after she previously denied being in a relationship with DJ Maphorisa. Last month, she tweeted, “I’m not dating Phori. Let that man live, man.”

Adding to the intrigue, Thuli shared cryptic photos on the night of the party with the caption “Think about it,” sparking online debates. Fans were quick to speculate that her post might be a subtle response to the festivities, with many urging the pair to resolve their differences.

A Rocky Relationship History

DJ Maphorisa and Thuli Phongolo’s relationship has been under the spotlight since May last year when Thuli filed abuse charges against the producer, only to later withdraw them. Earlier this year, reports suggested the couple had reconciled, with DJ Maphorisa allegedly returning cars he had repossessed from Thuli and gifting her a luxury Mercedes-AMG G63 worth R4 million on her birthday.

Despite rumors of reconciliation, Thuli has since made it clear on social media that she is single, writing, “When you’re single, but everyone still thinks you’re dating your ex… I hate that mess. Count me out.”

Fans Speculate on the Fallout

While fans dissect Thuli’s absence and cryptic post, DJ Maphorisa continues to enjoy the spotlight from his extravagant birthday celebration. Whether the two have truly parted ways or are keeping their relationship private remains a mystery.

Kaizer Chiefs Star Pule Mmodi Sparks Controversy After Slamming Teammates Over Dropped Points

October 3, 2025

Fikile Mbalula, the secretary-general of the African National Congress (ANC), has defended himself against what he called “malicious attempts” to damage his reputation, stating that he cannot stand by and watch while his integrity is publicly questioned. Mbalula responded to mounting criticism of his leadership role in the ANC and his involvement in internal conflicts during a media briefing on Wednesday. He emphasised that his response was motivated by principle rather than conceit. When my reputation is being tarnished, I must take a position. People will see my silence as an admission of guilt if I remain silent. I owe it to the movement I support, my family, and myself to make things clear,” he stated. The comments coincide with increased political tensions inside the ANC, where senior officials are being scrutinised due to disagreements about coalition tactics and policy direction. Mbalula declared that his contribution to the party would not be overshadowed by “falsehoods and political agendas.” “Being a leader is not simple. Even when you make choices that not everyone will agree with, you have to stand by them. I refuse to be intimidated by efforts to undermine me. My record is self-evident,” he continued. The very vocal Mbalula admitted that his leadership style has drawn both praise and criticism. But he maintained that the ANC’s credibility and keeping its pledges to South Africans should continue to be the major priorities. “This nation’s citizens are keeping an eye on us. They are looking for solutions, answers, and moral leadership. My attention is on it, not on trivial diversions,” he declared. Political observers point out that Mbalula’s most recent remarks demonstrate the escalating strain on the ANC leadership, especially as the party prepares for the upcoming election cycle. His insistence on preserving his reputation highlights the fine line that leaders must draw between their own moral character and group accountability. For the time being, Mbalula insists he would keep speaking out whenever his name is associated with accusations he believes are baseless. He declared, “Although I have never shied away from accountability, I will not let lies define me.”
