SACP General Secretary, Blade Nzimande, has raised concerns over Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi’s continued allegiance to the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), questioning why Ndlozi has not followed the path of other prominent members who have left the party. Nzimande made these remarks during a recent political gathering, pointing to a growing number of defections from the EFF in recent months.
Nzimande argued that the EFF no longer represents the progressive values it claims to uphold, telling Ndlozi, “You are sitting with the wrong party.” He suggested that the EFF has drifted away from its original mission and become disconnected from the struggles of ordinary South Africans. Citing internal conflicts and a departure from core socialist principles, Nzimande highlighted that several high-profile members have already parted ways with the party.

This critique delivers another blow to the EFF, which has been grappling with internal divisions and rumors of further resignations, including those of key figures like Floyd Shivambu. Nzimande urged Ndlozi to reconsider his affiliation with the party, implying that he might better serve South Africa by aligning with movements more focused on social justice and economic transformation.
Nzimande’s criticism reflects a broader dissatisfaction within leftist circles about the direction the EFF has taken. Once seen as a radical force for economic change, the party has been plagued by controversies and accusations of political opportunism, raising doubts about its long-term stability.
Ndlozi has yet to respond publicly to Nzimande’s comments, leaving many to speculate whether he will remain loyal to the EFF or explore opportunities outside the party. This incident has sparked renewed debate about the EFF’s future and the evolving political landscape in South Africa.
