Gauteng ANC Chairperson Panyaza Lesufi has expressed his support for comments made by ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula, who recently issued a stern warning to party members about the ANC’s future and the upcoming elections. Mbalula’s message was aimed at reinforcing discipline and unity within the party as it grapples with growing internal divisions and external challenges.

Lesufi emphasized that Mbalula’s warning should be taken seriously, particularly given the ANC’s declining electoral support in recent years. Mbalula cautioned that if members fail to unite and address the issues weakening the party, the ANC could face severe consequences in the next general elections. He pointed to the party’s falling popularity, corruption scandals, and poor service delivery as significant factors that could lead to a loss of power.

While acknowledging the current difficulties, Lesufi reaffirmed his support for Mbalula’s call for unity and discipline. He stressed that all ANC members must heed the warning and focus on rebuilding the party’s image, noting that further fragmentation or internal conflict could jeopardize the ANC’s future.

Lesufi further emphasized that Mbalula’s warning reflected the urgency the party must feel in addressing its weaknesses. He called for the ANC leadership to strengthen internal structures, ensure accountability, and deliver on promises made to South Africans.

In conclusion, Lesufi urged ANC members to align themselves with the party’s broader goals and prioritize the needs of the people. Without a collective effort, he warned, the ANC risks losing its dominant political position in future elections.
