“I Am Not Interested in ANC Top 7” – Lesufi’s Vision for Collaboration with EFF and MK Party

Panyaza Lesufi, a prominent figure in the African National Congress (ANC), recently made headlines during an interview with Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh. In this conversation, Lesufi expressed his disinterest in pursuing any of the Top 7 ANC positions for the upcoming 2027 elections. He conveyed a sense of patience and determination, stating that his time will come. This statement reflects his youthful perspective and commitment to the future of the party and its policies.

Lesufi’s remarks went beyond personal aspirations. He highlighted the stark contrast in how coalitions are perceived in South Africa. He pointed out the acceptance of right-wing alliances, particularly between groups like Afriforum and the Democratic Alliance (DA), while expressing disappointment over the media’s portrayal of black communities seeking collaboration. Moreover, Lesufi underscored his commitment to maintaining open doors for collaboration among black political groups. He emphasized that the ANC would not shy away from working with allies such as the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and the MK Party. This sentiment echoes a broader desire for unity among black political factions, particularly in a landscape where fragmentation has become common.

Lesufi’s comments also included a critique of perceptions regarding the DA’s support for black individuals. He cautioned against falling for misleading narratives, particularly those propagated by figures like Helen Zille, suggesting that they do not truly represent the interests of black communities. This assertion challenges the public to reconsider the complexities of political allegiances in South Africa.

In a political climate marked by ongoing debates about race, representation, and collaboration, Lesufi’s insights serve as a reminder of the importance of solidarity among those who have historically struggled for equality. As he looks towards the future, Lesufi’s vision may pave the way for new alliances and a reimagined political landscape.
