A devastating fire at Broadwalk Urban Village Complex in Midrand, Gauteng, has left over 130 families homeless and claimed the life of Onalenna Tsae. Her body was discovered submerged under rubble and a collapsed roof by Emergency Management Services.

A Neighbor’s Concerns

A neighbor, who wishes to remain anonymous, revealed that Onalenna and her boyfriend had a heated argument on September 18, just days before the fire. “The boyfriend knows what happened, wherever he is,” he said, expressing suspicion about the boyfriend’s whereabouts.

Key Points:

• Onalenna and her boyfriend had a intense argument on September 18

• The neighbor never saw them again until the day of the fire

• The boyfriend has gone missing, sparking concerns

• An inquest document has been opened, pending full EMS and forensic reports

The neighbor described Onalenna as reserved and quiet, contrasting with the boyfriend’s suspicious behavior. “We can’t find the boyfriend… Something is fishy.”

Gauteng police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed the investigation, stating, “We are still waiting for a full report from the EMS on the fire and forensics for a postmortem.”

Onalenna’s family has requested privacy as they process the tragedy.

The search for answers continues, with the boyfriend’s disappearance raising more questions than answers.
