A war of words has erupted between ANC leader Panyaza Lesufi and former Western Cape Premier Helen Zille over the party’s decision to support the Motion of No Confidence.

In a scathing Twitter post, Lesufi clarified that the decision was made by the ANC’s National Working Committee, emphasizing that no propaganda or media manipulation can alter this fact (@Lesufi).

“The decision to support the Motion of No Confidence was taken by the NATIONAL Working Committee of the ANC… The decision to not incorporate the DA in the Gauteng Government of Provincial Unity was also taken by the National Leadership of the ANC,” Lesufi stated.

Zille had questioned the ANC’s move, suggesting it empowered smaller parties and undermined democratic processes (@helenzille).

South Africa’s complex political landscape raises questions about coalition governments. Can coalition governments truly serve the people? Do smaller parties hold too much power?

Lesufi’s Rebuttal

“Insult us as you wish… reality is the ANC will never be a branch of the DA,” Lesufi retorted.

Public Reaction

– Some praise Lesufi’s stance as assertive leadership.

– Others criticize the ANC’s decision as undermining democracy.
