The City of Tshwane is currently without a mayor as the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Cilliers Brink was removed through a motion of no confidence.
This action came after the collapse of the DA’s coalition with ActionSA, which has now shifted allegiance to the African National Congress (ANC).
In a Thursday council session, 120 councillors voted to remove Brink, while 87 voted against his removal.
According to the law, they now have 14 working days to elect a new executive mayor.
