Helen Zille, representing the Democratic Alliance (DA), criticized the African National Congress (ANC) for not consulting the Government of National Unity (GNU) before inviting the Patriotic Alliance (PA) to join.
Zille highlighted that the GNU document requires ANC to consult with other GNU members before admitting new parties. She emphasized the ANC’s need for 60% support to pass decisions in parliament, which is difficult without DA’s 30% backing. This situation has sparked discussions on the power dynamics within the GNU and the implications of the ANC’s actions.
