Tomorrow Julius Malema the fiery leader of South Africa Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is set to attend the Easter church service at St. Engenas Zion Christian Church (ZCC) in Moria. This visit comes at a crucial time as Malema and the EFF are actively campaigning ahead of the upcoming municipal elections. Malema decision to attend the service at the ZCC one of the largest African-initiated churches in Southern Africa, is seen as a strategic move to connect with voters, particularly in Limpopo province where the church is based.

The ZCC with its estimated 4 million members holds significant political sway in the region. Malema known for his populist rhetoric and radical views on land reform and economic policies is likely to use this opportunity to appeal to the church’s followers. His presence at the Easter service is expected to draw attention and possibly garner support for the EFF political agenda.

However Malema visit to the ZCC is not without controversy. The church has previously expressed concerns about the EFF’s stance on issues such as traditional leadership and cultural practices. Malema’s relationship with the church leadership has been strained in the past but his attendance at the Easter service signals a willingness to engage and possibly mend fences.

The EFF a vocal opposition party in South Africa has been actively campaigning in various parts of the country promising radical economic reforms and challenging the ruling African National Congress (ANC). Malema visit to the ZCC is part of the EFF broader strategy to reach out to different communities and expand its support base.

The Easter service at the ZCC is expected to be a significant event with thousands of worshippers and political observers expected to attend. Malema presence will add a political dimension to the religious proceedings, highlighting the intersection of faith and politics in South Africa.
