EFF Unveils Bold Agenda for Western Cape: Tackling Crime, Water Access, and Taxi Industry

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have outlined several key priorities, including the fight against crime and gangsterism in the Western Cape, ensuring access to clean water, and addressing issues within the taxi industry.

Julius Malema, the party’s leader, delivered a speech to a large gathering of supporters at the Gugulethu Stadium in Cape Town during the party’s Western Cape election manifesto launch. He criticized the Democratic Alliance (DA)-led Western Cape government for its failure to effectively combat crime, particularly gangsterism.

Malema condemned criminals who extort money from residents and businesses under the guise of providing protection services. He emphasized the need to root out corrupt police officers who collaborate with criminals, stating that once the police force is reformed, law enforcement can effectively tackle crime without being compromised by internal corruption.

Furthermore, Malema accused both the national and Western Cape governments of neglecting to maintain water infrastructure in impoverished areas, resulting in many residents facing challenges in accessing clean water. He criticized the lack of action from both the DA and the ANC in addressing this critical issue, questioning why citizens should suffer without basic amenities like piped clean water and affordable electricity.

In addition to addressing crime and water access, the EFF expressed opposition to the impoundment of taxis, advocating for support for taxi owners and drivers. The party’s stance reflects its commitment to representing the interests of workers and marginalized communities, particularly in sectors such as transportation where livelihoods are at stake.

Overall, the EFF’s manifesto launch highlighted the party’s dedication to addressing pressing issues facing the Western Cape, from crime and infrastructure to economic empowerment. By articulating these priorities, the EFF aims to garner support and mobilize voters ahead of upcoming elections, positioning itself as a viable alternative to the current political establishment.
