Moroka Swallows, a prominent football club, has been charged with misconduct and bringing the league into disrepute by the Premier Soccer League (PSL) Disciplinary Committee. These charges come in light of the club’s failure to fulfill their last two DStv Premiership fixtures in December 2023. The reason behind the unexpected absence from the scheduled matches stems from a dispute concerning unpaid player salaries.

According to the PSL prosecutor, Zola Majavu, Moroka Swallows Football Club faced charges for misconduct due to their failure to honor fixtures set for December 27th and 30th, 2023. The club is set to appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee on January 11th, 2024, to address these charges. Majavu stated that further updates regarding the outcomes of the disciplinary proceedings would be provided only after the matter is resolved. He refrained from offering additional commentary until the disciplinary process concludes.

In response to the missed fixtures against Mamelodi Sundowns FC and Golden Arrows FC, Moroka Swallows issued an apology to all affected parties. The club expressed regret for the cancellations through a formal statement, extending their apologies to fans and stakeholders. The misconduct charges have arisen as a result of the club’s failure to participate in the scheduled league matches, attributed to unresolved financial issues regarding player salaries. The matter will undergo adjudication by the PSL Disciplinary Committee, with the outcome to be communicated following the conclusion of the proceedings.
