Tribalism is a divisive force that has no place in a modern, inclusive society. It is a destructive ideology that seeks to create division and conflict among people based on their cultural or ethnic backgrounds. In South Africa, where the scars of apartheid and racial segregation are still healing, tribalism must be firmly rejected in all its manifestations.

Ngizwe Mchunu’s remarks directed towards Julius Malema are a clear example of tribalism and must be condemned by all South Africans. By stating that KZN is for Zulus and suggesting that Malema should launch the EFF Manifesto in Limpopo, Mchunu is perpetuating the dangerous idea that certain regions or political parties should be exclusively associated with specific ethnic groups.

Such statements only serve to stoke the flames of division and animosity, and they have no place in a country striving to overcome its troubled past and build a united, inclusive future. It is crucial for all South Africans to stand together against tribalism and reject any attempts to sow seeds of discord based on ethnicity or culture.

It is important for leaders and public figures to use their platforms to promote unity and understanding, rather than perpetuating tribalistic rhetoric. South Africa’s strength lies in its diversity, and it is only through embracing this diversity and building bridges across cultural and ethnic lines that the country can move forward and thrive.

Ultimately, the rejection of tribalism and the promotion of unity and inclusivity are pivotal for South Africa’s continued progress and development. All South Africans must actively work towards creating a society where everyone is valued and respected, regardless of their cultural or ethnic background. Only by standing together in solidarity can the country overcome the scars of its past and build a brighter future for all its citizens.
