Welkom K9 Unit members arrested two male suspects aged 36 and 48 for common robbery, possession of suspected stolen property, reckless and negligent driving.
On Friday morning, 3 November 2023, police were informed about occupants of a silver sedan who had robbed a bank card at Manny Kroonstad, they responded swiftly and spotted the vehicle towards the direction of Kroonstad, a high-speed chase ensued and the vehicle was intercepted near Riebeeckstad.
The two male occupants were thoroughly searched and officers found the victim’s bank card and R3 700 of stolen cash, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects also robbed another person in Senekal and the vehicle they were driving is rented from a rental service in Welkom.
They were arrested and detained at Welkom police station, they will soon appear before the Welkom Magistrate’s Court to face the charges mentioned above, further Investigation on this matter is still ongoing.
