SuperSport sportscaster Lindiwe Dube has officially separated from her husband of just one year, Sibusiso Nxumalo.
The soccer presenter, who recently became a mother for the first time, shared the news on X on Friday, October 13.
“In this year, there are two things I’m grateful for. The birth of my son and the courage to leave my toxic marriage,” her now-deleted post revealed.
According to Sunday World, Dube, who subsequently locked her social media account, also added, “Yes, I am going through a divorce. That’s all I can say.”
An insider told the publication, “I started suspecting trouble when I noticed she began using the Dube surname instead of Nxumalo, even on her social media profiles. Given her recent posts on social media, it seems a divorce may be imminent.”
Another source disclosed that Dube and Nxumalo’s marriage was characterized by unhappiness.
The couple reportedly frequently clashed over their social lives as a married pair. Nxumalo works as a professional pilot.
“At one point, she even moved back to her parents’ home in Daveyton, east of Johannesburg.”
The former couple exchanged their vows in March of the previous year, marking their union one year after they began dating.
For their romantic engagement, the pilot surprised the sports presenter with a getaway to Nambiti Hills near Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, just seven months into their relationship. Dube expressed her gratitude on social media at the time, thanking her partner for consistently keeping all the promises he had made since the beginning of their journey together.
“My love, you’ve kept every promise since day one. Thank you for choosing me and loving me the way you do. I’m incredibly excited for our next chapter. God’s timing is always perfect, and he has truly blessed me with the best – a love that is kind, tender, and everlasting. I love you, always and forever. Nxumalo, Zwide, Mkhatshwa, KaLanga!!!”
