Bheki Cele, a prominent figure in South African politics and a dedicated anti-racism activist, is widely recognized in his homeland. Born as Bhekokwakhe Hamilton Sele on April 22, 1952, this article delves into his background, career, family, and more.

**Political Journey and Career:**

Bheki Cele has held significant roles in South African politics and law enforcement. He assumed the position of Minister of Police in February 2018, overseeing the nation’s law enforcement agencies. Prior to this, he served as the National Commissioner of the South African Police Service for two years. However, his career has seen both triumphs and challenges, as criminal charges were filed against him in October 2011, leading to his dismissal in June 2012. Despite this setback, Cele continued to make a mark in politics.

Apart from his role in law enforcement, Bheki Cele also served as the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Provincial Legislative Assembly and Executive Committee.

During his career, Cele has been an active member of the African National Congress (ANC). He holds positions in the ANC’s National Executive Committee and the Central Committee, showcasing his commitment to the party’s ideals. His involvement in politics dates back to the apartheid era, where he endured incarceration on Robben Island.

**Family and Personal Life:**

Bheki Cele’s personal life has also been of interest. He has been married twice, with both marriages ending in divorce. His first wife, Thando Ngcobo, remains relatively private. Cele’s second wife, Thembeka Ngcobo, captured attention for her stunning presence. They exchanged vows on October 2, 2010, in a grand ceremony attended by celebrities, politicians, and affluent individuals from across the country.

Cele is also known as a loving father. He has a daughter named Khumbuza Sele, who gained fame after an incident at her father’s birthday party went viral. The party, held at a Cape Town nightclub, featured an explosive moment that caught the public’s attention. This incident led to online discussions and legal actions against those involved.

**Salary and Financial Background:**

During his tenure as Chief of Police, Bheki Cele earned an income of approximately 130 million South African Rand. Later, as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries from 2014 onwards, he received an annual salary of nearly €1.2 million.

However, there have been disputes regarding his asking price as the Minister of Police under President Cyril Ramaphosa, with some sources suggesting an annual salary of 1.4 million South African Rand.

**Academic Background:**

Bheki Sele’s educational journey started in Umzumbe, where he received his formal education. While he initially aspired to attend law school, financial constraints led him to explore teaching and IT as minor subjects. Specific details about his academic background remain elusive, but he is credited as one of the early members of the National Education Association in South Africa.

**Residential Investment:**

Bheki Cele made headlines when he purchased a residence in Pretoria for 3.4 million South African Rand. The house, located in the Waterkloof Ridge area, came with a total price tag of R2.9 million, along with additional expenses of R374,092 for transfers and legal matters. His penchant for a lavish lifestyle has made him a notable figure in South African politics.

While these aspects provide a glimpse into the life and career of Bheki Cele, his journey continues to be a significant part of South Africa’s political landscape.
