Collen Malatji, the President of the ANC Youth League (ANCYL), has called for significant improvements in social support systems in South Africa. In a recent statement, Malatji advocated for an increase in the R350 social grant to R1,500, highlighting the pressing need to address the financial struggles faced by many vulnerable citizens.

Furthermore, he emphasized the plight of unemployed graduates and proposed that they should receive a monthly stipend of R4,500 while actively searching for employment. This suggestion aims to alleviate the financial burden on recent graduates and facilitate their transition into the job market.

Malatji’s proposals reflect a commitment to addressing the economic challenges faced by marginalized communities and the youth in particular. They underscore the importance of comprehensive social policies that ensure a basic standard of living and support the aspirations of South Africa’s youth, who represent the nation’s future.
