Motorists and members of the public are urged to avoid De Korte street in Braamfontein, Johannesburg CBD (Gauteng Province), a gas explosion occurred and fire department officials are currently at the scene.
According to news reports, this afternoon, Tuesday, 5 September 2023, an egoli gas truck burst into flames and the fire spread to a building on De Korte Street in Braamfontein, Johannesburg CBD, the driver of the truck managed to escape unharmed and he rushed to call for help.
Fire Department officials were called for assistance and upon their arrival at the scene they worked tirelessly to extinguish the flames from spreading further, no fatalities or injuries have been confirmed at this stage.
Motorists and members of the public are urged to stay away from the area because there are still highly flammable chemicals at the scene.
