The investigation into the murder of Senzo Meyiwa resumed this evening, revealing a startling revelation about the handling of the crime scene. The SAPS officer responsible for the case, disclosed that the Khumalo family, including Kelly Khumalo and her sister, had slept in the same house where Meyiwa was tragically killed, even while the property was still designated as a crime scene.

During the inquiry, Mosia, a key figure in the investigation, elaborated on his role and procedures at crime scenes. He emphasized that he maintains custody of all exhibits and evidence, as long as they are properly packaged. Responding to questioning, he stood by his practices and asserted their propriety.

Pressed on the issue of safekeeping, Mosia contradicted claims that there was no documentation of the exhibits being securely stored. He countered that he had indeed ensured the preservation of the evidence by placing them in a lockable safe, given the absence of the exhibit clerk at the time.

In response to inquiries about the timeline of exhibit entry, Mosia disclosed that the records were officially documented on the morning following the initial processing of the crime scene, specifically at 8:30 AM. Further questioning led to clarification on the handling of exhibits overnight. Mosia confirmed that he held responsibility for the exhibits during this period, ensuring their protection both at work and at his residence.

Addressing concerns about tampering, Mosia explained that he held both the key to the safe and the key to the officer responsible for evidence. He assured that the police office operates round-the-clock, underscoring the security measures in place to safeguard the integrity of the collected evidence. As the investigation proceeds, these revelations underscore the meticulous procedures being scrutinized within the Senzo Meyiwa murder case, shedding light on the complexities surrounding the tragic incident.

Mshololo: The whole night after the exhibits were collected they were with you?

Mosia: They were my responsibility. I was at home, and they were at work.#SABCNews #SenzoMeyiwaTrial #SenzoMeyiwa

Mshololo: How did you ensure that the exhibits were not tampered with?

Mosia: The key to the safe was with me. The key to the officer was with me. Our office operates 24/7.#SABCNews #SenzoMeyiwaTrial #SenzoMeyiwa
