A Community Police Forum (CPF) member stationed at Tembisa Police Station has been arrested on charges of fraud and corruption. The suspect, identified as Floyd Mabaso, was arrested by members of the EMPD Task Team following a tip-off from community members. Mabaso is alleged to have been running a job scam, promising people jobs in the police force in exchange for money.

Mabaso appeared briefly in the Tembisa Magistrate Court on Thursday, August 17, 2023, and was granted R300 bail. He is due to appear in court again on September 6, 2023. The arrest of Mabaso has sparked outrage in the Tembisa community, with many people calling for his dismissal from the CPF. Community members are concerned that Mabaso’s alleged crimes have tarnished the image of the CPF and the Tembisa Police Station.

The CPF Executive and management at Tembisa Police Station have said that they are aware of the concerns of the community and that they are taking the matter seriously. They have promised to investigate the allegations against Mabaso and to take appropriate action if he is found to be guilty of wrongdoing. In the meantime, the CPF Executive and management have urged community members to come forward with any information they have about Mabaso’s alleged crimes. They have also said that they are committed to working with the community to ensure that the Tembisa Police Station is a safe and secure place for everyone.

The arrest of Mabaso has also sparked calls for his dismissal from the CPF. Community members believe that Mabaso’s alleged crimes have brought the CPF into disrepute and that he should no longer be allowed to represent the community. The CPF Executive and management have said that they will consider the calls for Mabaso’s dismissal, but they have not yet made a decision. They have said that they need to wait for the outcome of the investigation into the allegations against Mabaso before they can make a decision.

In the meantime, the CPF Executive and management have urged community members to remain calm and to allow the investigation to take its course. They have said that they will keep the community updated on the progress of the investigation.
