On Saturday, thousands of supporters of the EFF (Economic Freedom Fighters) gathered at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium to mark the party’s 10th anniversary. The event was a celebration of the EFF’s decade as a registered political party. Various opposition leaders attended the rally and emphasized the importance of unity among opposition parties to challenge the ANC (African National Congress) in the upcoming 2024 elections.

UDM (United Democratic Movement) leader Bantu Holomisa addressed the spirited crowd and expressed the need for a united front against the ANC, accusing them of misusing state funds. He recalled the EFF’s early days when he visited Marikana with EFF leader Julius Malema and deputy Floyd Shivambu after their expulsion from the ANC. Holomisa urged the opposition parties to come together and stand against corruption and mismanagement of public resources.

ATM (African Transformation Movement) leader Vuyo Zungula also stressed the significance of unity among opposition parties before the 2024 elections. He congratulated the EFF on its milestone and emphasized the importance of working together as the key to success. Zungula emphasized that failure to unite would hinder their ability to remove the ANC from power.

The EFF’s Gauteng chairperson, Nkululeko Dunga, highlighted the province’s potential for political change, stating that it presented the most significant opportunity to unseat the ANC. He criticized the current administration’s handling of the province, citing high unemployment rates, widespread poverty, and escalating crime. Dunga accused the ANC of being self-centered and not prioritizing the needs of the citizens.

In summary, the EFF’s 10th-anniversary rally served as a platform for opposition leaders to advocate for unity in their efforts to challenge the ANC’s rule in the 2024 elections. The leaders addressed issues of corruption, mismanagement, and inadequate governance in the country. The event showcased the party’s determination to bring about change and addressed the challenges faced by the people of Gauteng. It highlighted the importance of cooperation among opposition parties to create a better future for the country.
