Today, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) will be arresting eight members of VIP Protection Services. This action comes after receiving authorization from the Director of Public Prosecution. The arrest will take place at the Sandton Police Station and the eight individuals will be held there until their appearance at the Randburg Magistrates Court on Monday morning, 24 July 2023.

Video of these members of the VIP protection service company surfaced about a few hours later after they were filmed assaulting two men, one of the men they assaulted is said to be a member of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF). The video left a lot of people outraged and many were calling for the arrest of these eight men, and finally, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) made the decision to make the arrest.

Some people on social media platforms were even saying the eight men should be charged with attempted murder and not assault as they all had guns when they were beating up the two men, and some of them had their guns out of the holster which isn’t a good look for all of them at all.

People on social media were impressed with what they IPID managed to do, and some people even praised them for doing their jobs right and getting those two men some justice.

Hopefully, things go well and the two victims who got hurt by these men get the justice that they deserve.
