The government of the Republic of South Africa under the ruling party of the African National Congress has been trying to push the president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin not to attend the upcoming BRICS summit which will be held in the Republic of South Africa next month.

The International Criminal Court has issued a warrant of arrest for Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin and unfortunately South Africa is part of International Criminal Court which force the government to arrest President Vladimir Putin if he visits South Africa.

Now Deputy president of the Republic of South Africa and African National Congress Paul Mashatile says South African government would be compelled to arrest the Kremlin leader should he land on its shores, something they would want to avoid.

President Cyril Ramaphosa is still engaged in negotiations with President Vladimir Putin and other Brics leaders to find a solution to the diplomatic hot potato but Russian government insist that Their president attends BRICS Summit.
