Komphela was appointed as the new head coach of the Soweto side last week following his surprising exit from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The coach will be in charge of the Soweto side in the upcoming season as their new head coach as the coach will be looking looking ti bring the back the glory days at the Dube Birds.
Komphela will be assisted by Musa Nyatama who was in charge of the team last season.
Speaking to the media Khanye believes that Swallows needed an experienced coach even though it will be a step back for Nyatama who was the head coach last season.
Khanye insisted that Khompela has experience because he has been also in charge of U20 and U23 national teams and that he does not restrict players, he let skillful players play.
“Steve’s profile has grown bigger since he has been at Sundowns. He had a good profile after coaching the junior national teams and even had an opportunity to coach Bafana Bafana when they didn’t have a coach,” said Khanye.
Khanye also believes that the coach has grown a lot since he has been at Sundowns where he managed to win league titles and cups.
He added that he does not think the coach would move to Swallows if they were not going to pay him.
Khanye said that it was a good idea for the coach to move to Swallows because there was a space for him at the club especially after the experience that he got from his stint with Sundowns.
The coach will be looking to bring a winning momentum to the Soweto side as they will be looking to challenge for trophies next season after finishing the previous season in the top eight.
