Stellenbosch Approach Kaizer Chiefs for Star Player

Stellenbosch FC have approached Kaizer Chiefs for one of their star players as the Stellies are looking to beef up their squad going to the new season.

The club have parted ways with some of their key players from the previous season including Junior m Mendieta who joined Mamelodi Sundowns recently and the Cape winelands side will be looking to replace some of those players going to the new season.

The club have also been linked with a couple of players from the dstv premiership as they are looking to assemble a formidable squad ahead of the new season after having a very impressive campaign in the previous season.

Chiefs winger Kgaogelo Sekgota has become the latest player to attract interest from the cape winelands side.

Sekgota have not seen that much game time since joining Chiefs from crosstown rival Swallows FC in 2021 and the player only has one year left on his contract with the Soweto side.

However the Cape winelands side will face some competition in their pursuit to sign the player as the player has attracted interest from Belgium.

Reports suggest that Amakhosi are also not willing to sell the 26-year old as he is still a part of their plans going to the new season.

However with only one year left on his contract Chiefs will unlikely to block any moves that make financial sense to avoid losing the player on a free transfer.

Amakhosi also did the same thing with Siyabonga Ngezana who recently secured a move to a Romanian side.

However Stellenbosch’s interests to the player will depend on whether the club meet the demands of Chiefs regarding the switch of the player to the Cape Winelands side.

It remains to be seen on whether the club or will meet the demands of Amakhosi regarding the switch of the player.
