The victim of the alleged paramedic abandonment in Umlazi, south of Durban, has passed away.
According to reports, two paramedics decided not to assist Thembeka Sikhosana, 38, because they did not want to walk the stairs to go to her home.
The family also claims that the medical staff treated them severely. Sikhosana’s condition has reportedly gotten worse since the day the paramedics abandoned her.
Mbali Sikhosana, her younger sister, said that she already had a cardiac issue.
She claimed that Sikhosana had experienced other difficulties, which the physicians had confirmed.
The doctor discovered memory loss, followed by liver and kidney failure.
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health said that it was still investigating the case.
Meanwhile, the two paramedics have been suspended.
