South African Police Service (SAPS) members were called to a scene in Soweto (Gauteng Province), after a heated dispute between taxi operators escalated to a shooting.
According to the Jozi FM news report, this morning, Friday, 7 July 2023 taxi drivers the Nanduwe taxi association allegedly had a heated dispute in Soweto and it escalated to a shooting, South African Police (SAPS) members and JMPD were called for assistance.
When officers arrived at the scene they were able to contain the situation, several roads including Klipvalley Road and Khumalo including Sofasonke street in Orlando West have been blocked, motorists are urged to use alternative routes to arrive at desired destinations.
No fatalities or injuries have been reported at this stage, the motive behind the altercation has not yet been established at this stage, more details surrounding the incident will soon come out as the story continues to develop.
