Her life was adapted into a film. The story of Rosemary Ndlovu shocked many South Africans when it made headlines. The ruthless and serial killer literally erased her family members. Today, she is Serving Six Life sentences.

Despite this her infamous lifestyle, Rosemary Ndlovu is described as charming, how come? Well, ROSEMARY’S Hitlist, the true-crime documentary, has the answer. The documentary which is currently on showmax is produced by IdeaCandy and directed by Valen’tino Mathibela.

Regarding why, he decided to embark on a project like this Rosemary crime story, Valen’tino Mathibela has this to say, “I was drawn to Rosemary’s story because it’s unbelievable. It’s a cop killing her family. I wanted to find out why a mother, a daughter, and a sister would become a perpetrator while in a position of power to do the opposite and protect her family instead. Money was not enough of a reason”.

Indeed, it was an unbelievable story. Many people never believe that a lady could be that heartless, ruthless and wicked, especially to members of her own family, to the extent that she nearly wiped out even extended family.

Even as a cop, she was supposed to protect her family members and other citizens, but she turned herself into a wanton serial and bloodthirsty killer. Also recalling why she thinks that such a personality is charming when adapted into a movie,Valen’tino Mathibela said that it was shocking to the extent that, “When she was sentenced, she made a threat to one of the witnesses to say, ‘I will spend this Christmas in jail, but next year, I will be out. I will be back, and you will see.’

So people were still afraid, and we had some witnesses who changed their minds daily while we chased a deadline. “That is why, with some of the witnesses, we had to hide their identity when we filmed them,” The director said that there was no iota of sympathy or remorse in the life of Rosemary Ndlovu to show that it was human lives she took on numerous occasions. This is why such a movie character is described as charming.
