Africa, South Tshireledzo Ndou, the counsel for Thabo Bester, reportedly has serious criminal charges against him. Bester is an ex-convict who was found guilty of rape. The case of attempted rape and violence against Ndou has been postponed until June 21, 2023, according to NPA spokesperson Phaladi Shuping.
According to a report issued on Wednesday by Newsroom Afrika, the 27-year-old lawyer was freed on an R1,000 bond. A section of the charge sheet for a case that was opened at Bloemfontein’s Bainsvlei police station was posted on Twitter by the news source. It went on to say that Jeremia Pela, Bester’s attorney, who is supposedly also facing criminal charges, would defend Ndou.
Pela is set to go on trial at the Motheo TVET College in Bloemfontein for alleged fraud in the acquisition of security contracts. The National Prosecuting Authority’s Phaladi Shuping has been contacted; when he responds, the story will be updated.
In this well-reported case, Bester, a convicted murderer and rapist who escaped from Mangaung prison together with his companion and probable accomplice, eminent physician Nandipha Magudumana, is being defended by the legal team. Information regarding his intricate escape strategy, lavish lifestyle in Johannesburg for a year after his breakout, and deeply rooted corrupt ties has been spilling out in court as police investigators dig deeper and make more arrests.
