I had the incredible privilege of engaging in a captivating conversation tonight in Johannesburg with none other than Cyril Ramaphosa, the esteemed President of South Africa. The discussion revolved around two crucial topics that hold immense significance for the nation and the world at large: governing health innovation for the common good and initiating a much-needed Just Energy Transition.

As we delved into the realm of health innovation, President Ramaphosa highlighted the importance of South Africa’s role as a hub for pioneering advancements, particularly in the development of the next variations of mRNA vaccines. We explored the potential benefits of harnessing the country’s scientific expertise and infrastructure to drive equitable access to life-saving vaccines, ensuring that no one is left behind. President Ramaphosa expressed his commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing with other nations, recognizing the power of collective efforts in combating global health challenges.

Transitioning to the topic of Just Energy, the conversation took an invigorating turn as President Ramaphosa shared his vision for a sustainable and equitable energy future. We discussed the imperative to shift away from fossil fuels and embrace renewable energy sources, while ensuring that marginalized communities are not disproportionately affected by this transition. The President emphasized the need to create inclusive policies that prioritize social justice, job creation, and environmental stewardship.

Throughout our exchange, President Ramaphosa demonstrated exceptional leadership, combining deep insight with a genuine concern for the well-being of his people and the global community. His commitment to governing health innovation for the common good and driving a Just Energy Transition was truly inspiring.

As the conversation came to an end, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of optimism for the future. The ideas shared and the passion conveyed by President Ramaphosa laid a solid foundation for transformative action in South Africa and beyond. It was an evening that epitomized the power of dialogue and collaboration in shaping a better world.
