The people of South Africa have woken up to one of the saddest news ever with regards to the issue of immigration. For sometime, South Africans under Operation Dudula and Put South Africa First Movement have been demanding for the deportation of foreign nationals back to their home country.
These groups accused foreigners of contributing to the ever growing rate of crime and lack of job opportunities. This issue has raised a whole lot of conversation across board, especially the renewal of controversial Zimbabwe exemption permit.
The permit was issued to over 180, 000 beneficiaries from Zimbabwe who were running away from Mugabe’s harsh regime in the country. However, the permit expired on the 31st of March 2023 which promoted South Africans to demand for non-renewal of the document.
The permit was later extended by 1 year and six months to enable beneficiaries obtain other forms of permit, meanwhile, newest report reaching our news desk suggest that controversial Zimbabwean exemption permit will no longer expire in June 2023 as previously stipulated by the Department of Home Affairs.
A memo released by the Department of Home Affairs clearly stated that Zimbabwe exemption permit has been extended to December 31st 2023.
