The renowned drug-busting team known as the “Sizokthola” crew encountered a troubling incident when their efforts to expose a drug dealer in Rustenburg, North West were obstructed and attacked. According to an eyewitness who happened to be at the Coconut Lounge, where the incident occurred, the Sizokthola crew entered the establishment and introduced themselves, explaining the purpose of their visit.
The presence of Moja Love presenter Xolani Khumalo attracted attention, causing a stir among the patrons. However, despite identifying their target within the pub, the crew found themselves blocked by the management and security personnel, preventing them from reaching the suspect. Tensions escalated as the crew attempted to leave the pub to avoid confrontation but found themselves hindered by the security personnel. Some members managed to escape, but others were trapped inside as the gate was locked.
Eventually, those outside took matters into their own hands, breaking the lock to rescue their colleagues. The witness expressed disappointment at witnessing criminals being protected at any cost, highlighting the alarming reality that even drug dealers who harm the youth can enjoy such protection.
The situation grew more disturbing when it was alleged that the security personnel of Coconut Lounge resorted to throwing bottles at the crew members outside, resulting in damage to one of their vehicles. The North West SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Amanda Funani, confirmed that a case of malicious damage to property had been reported and investigations were ongoing.
The determination of the Sizokthola crew and their dedication to combating drug-related issues serve as a reminder of the persistence required to overcome the obstacles in the fight against illicit activities.
